Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 until Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is an unassuming community located in the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. The West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is a vast area that extends from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel grew up on this island, and it is commonly called her birthplace. However, she only was there for a brief period of time. Brugel was raised on Courtice close to Oshawa located in Ontario. She wanted to become a professional dancer, but because of a huge expansion, she surpassed the dance partners she had. According to an article in the Toronto Star, she revealed that she wore heels and was 6 foot 1 inches tall. Once I outgrew male partners and gave up, I decided to give up. Dancers who have been in the past often switch to acting and in the case of Brugel it was the result of a recommendation from her drama teacher. A teacher suggested that she audition for an annual school play. Following a trial the role, she was chosen as the main character in Anne of Green Gables. This led to her being awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000, she received her BA in Fine Arts at York University. In the 20+ years since, Brugel has been offered roles in over 60 shows on the big and small screens, attracting the greatest media attention after she was offered the character in the role of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel made an appearance on only a handful of occasions in the first season of the series The Handmaid's tale. She was the sole Canadian actor.
